Empowering young adults through their many life transitions, as they develop their identity and strive to break generational cycles

She| Her | Ella

I’m Jennifer Gonzalez, LCSW-S — a second-generation Mexicana, first generation college graduate, mom of three, and sole therapist behind Vida Counseling TX.

Right now, Vida Counseling TX is a solo practice, but I’m working toward expanding to support and supervise future therapists.

Poco de Mi/ A little about me:

I like long walks to my couch during my time off, 1-2 hot cups of coffee per day, and a warm concha for comforting vibes.

Other things that bring me joy: cooking all things but mostly Mexican food, visiting my extended family in Chihuahua, MX, making memories with my kids and husband, and organizing every corner of our home!

What is my why?

I pursued this field of work to ultimately be the person I needed when I was younger AND the person my immigrant parents needed in their younger adult life.

My Therapy Approach

I specialize in working with first/second-gen young adults (mostly ages 18-39) who are ready to break generational cycles and create lives that feel authentic and grounded. My approach is very much shaped by my culture: I’m direct and honest (like a big sister who tells you the truth), but always with warmth and care. I believe in challenging my clients—not to overwhelm them, but to help them grow and feel better, faster.

Therapy with me is real, direct, and grounded in cultura. I understand the unique pressures that come with navigating two worlds, breaking cycles, and carrying the hopes of those who came before you. I work primarily with young adults who are ready to do the deep work it takes to heal—and I believe in moving toward change sooner rather than later.

Think of me as your big sister in therapy: I’ll tell you the truth, hold you accountable, and challenge you—while still creating a safe and supportive space to unpack what’s on your mind. My goal isn’t just to help you cope, but to help you thrive, so you can live life on your terms and not by the scripts you were handed. Together, we’ll identify patterns, build practical tools, and create the kind of generational shift that not only impacts you, but those around you.

Whether you're looking for support with generational trauma, life transitions, or just feeling stuck—I’m here to help.

Being that social workers are needed/sought in most settings, my varied experience to date includes inpatient/outpatient hospital counseling, crisis intervention counseling, skills training through a community program for children/adolescents, and mental health counseling in higher education settings. I have 10+ years of mental health experience working with the pediatric, adolescent, and adult population facing a variety of challenges including stages of life, relationships, adjustments, self-image, family dynamics, and physical health issues.

As a social worker, I am highly motivated by social justice. I strongly believe and advocate for Women's rights, LGBTQIA rights, immigrant rights, people of color rights, and basic human rights-to name a few!

I am an affirming therapist for people of all sexual identities and genders.
