Emotional Support Animal (ESA) Evaluations

What is an ESA Evaluation?

An ESA evaluation is a clinical assessment that determines whether an emotional support animal may help mitigate symptoms of a mental health condition. If clinically appropriate, documentation may be provided for housing accommodations under applicable laws.

ESA letters:

  • Are based on a clinical evaluation

  • Do not guarantee approval by landlords or housing providers

  • Are not the same as service animals

Who May Benefit:

ESA evaluations may be considered for individuals experiencing:

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Depression

  • Trauma-related symptoms

  • Other qualifying mental health conditions

A diagnosis alone does not automatically qualify an individual for an ESA letter.
